💡Temperature: Prefers cooler temperatures (65-75°F), and if exposed to higher temperatures for long periods of time, growth will stagnate.
🔎 Plant Health: Red splotches on leaves’ undersides are normal for this variety. It is a very pest-hardy plant!
✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trim any that are brown or extending past the yPod. Cut back stems’ height by ⅔ as needed to control the plant’s size, if desired. To encourage new flower bud development, remove dead flower heads, called deadheading. Snip any yellow or brown leaves if they appear, but as always, leave one third of the plant behind to let it continue growing so you can enjoy multiple waves of blooms.

Native to East Africa, these flowers are known by many names, including impatiens (sometimes pronounced like “impatients”), variations of “busy Lizzie”, balsam, and sultana. Their Latin family name, Impatiens, refers to the seed pods’ fast burst when ripe, which helps distribute the seeds in nature (but won’t affect your Gardyn). Impatiens are one of the most cultivated flowers worldwide due to their fast growth and ability to thrive in shady conditions.
Bright red, paper-thin petals create a continuously blooming, colorful blanket over green leaves and thick stems. This variety grows very full and bushy, and is pest-hardy! While the scentless flowers are edible, they don’t have much flavor, so they’re better enjoyed for their visual beauty. Red splotches on leaves’ undersides are normal.
